GLOBIS Hosts First Overseas VLP Seminar in Düsseldorf, Exploring Japan’s Wisdom for European Leaders

  • Event Reports
  • On June 11, 2026, GLOBIS hosted its first overseas Visionary Leadership Program (VLP) seminar in Düsseldorf, Germany, in collaboration with GLOBIS Europe (GEU). Held in one of Europe’s largest hubs for Japanese companies, the event brought together business leaders and professionals to explore how Japanese perspectives can offer new approaches to leadership and management in an increasingly uncertain world.

Titled “Japan’s Wisdom: A New Lens for European Leaders,” the seminar examined what Japan can contribute to Europe and the wider world at a time of rapid technological change and growing uncertainty. The discussion also encouraged participants to consider what Japan can learn from Europe and other global perspectives, moving beyond simply introducing the uniqueness of Japanese management.

The session was led by Tomoya Nakamura, a global educator and business leader. Drawing on Japanese approaches to long-term thinking, leadership, and value creation, the seminar explored how Japanese companies build lasting value and how these principles can help leaders rethink strategy and decision-making in the age of AI.

    Participants discussed several key themes:

    • Long-Term Thinking: How Japanese approaches to long-term thinking can support better decision-making and sustainable value creation.
    • Leadership Through a Different Lens: Challenging established assumptions by examining leadership and management from a Japanese cultural perspective.
    • Kokorozashi: Exploring the concept of a values-driven personal mission and how it can shape leadership and decision-making.
    • Leadership in the Age of AI: Considering new approaches to leadership and organizational value creation as technology rapidly transforms business.

The event also marked the launch of the Visionary Leadership Program (VLP), GLOBIS’ executive education program for senior leaders seeking to strengthen strategic judgment, lead with a personal mission, and gain new perspectives through Japanese management philosophy. Participants interested in VLP and GLOBIS MBA programs were subsequently offered opportunities for further discussions.

The seminar was organized jointly by GLOBIS Global Group (GGG) and GLOBIS Europe, bringing together teams across the organization to create an opportunity for leaders in Europe to exchange perspectives and explore new approaches to leadership. Through events such as this, GLOBIS continues to foster cross-cultural dialogue and develop a global community of leaders who can create meaningful value in a rapidly changing world.
